A fresh new year is a great time to reflect on the year that was, noticing what we’ve achieved and thinking about changes we want to make.
To me, the idea of new years resolutions can seem so impersonal and commercial, so instead, I’m making- promises to myself. They’re little gifts which I know will bring even more peace, meaning and joy in 2015.
To live in this moment
I’m practicing bringing my mind back to the present rather than worrying about the future.
Any anxiety, stress or problems manifest when we are living in the future or the past. In the now, there is nothing lacking.
To prioritize my yoga and meditation practice
Something I’m already working on. I want to practice yoga and meditation at home most days, but I won’t carry any guilt if I miss a day!
To listen to my body
Blocking out the noise of what others are doing, knowing deeply and trusting what is right for me when it comes to my health.
Don’t seek approval from others.
The only opinion we need to worry about is our own. We’re happier and more relaxed when not worried about what others might see or think.
Develop even more inspiring friends and contacts in the health and wellness biz.
I love to build new friendships and this year I want to grow my network of people I connect with and who inspire me.
Incorporate more intensive activities into my exercise regime when it feels good.
This means going for a jog, climbing the stairs at the gym, listening to buzzy hip-hop mix on my phone. ONLY because it gives me a high and it feels good, not because it burns calories.
To cook at home more often
Now this might be the most challenging of all. Most of us feel time-poor and it can be so easy to grab a quick and easy dinner out or a take away. It’s especially hard when you are spoiled with so many yummy healthy options nearby. This year I’ll prepare more healthy dinners with love in my own kitchen!
I hope your own personal promises make 2015 a healthy, love-filled year of growth.
